Elizabeth Latham Elizabeth J. Latham is the Executive Director for the U.S. Committee for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP-USA). She also serves on the Board of Directors of Interaction and the Steering Committee of the United Nations Association's Council of Organizations. Elizabeth has done project coordination at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, media work for the National Security Studies Quarterly, and community mobilization for the Washington Office on Africa. In 2003 she was the inaugural recipient of UNA-USA's Global Young Advocate Award. She is in press with "CIVPOL Certification: A Model for the Recruitment and Training of Civilian Police Monitors" (World Affairs, Summer 2001) and has written for the Winter 2004 Issue of The Interdependent magazine. Kyle Simpson graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in International Studies and Linguistics. He has an interest in the relationship between development and the environment. Growing up outside of Des Moines, he spent six months in Montpellier, France learning the language and becoming acquainted with French culture.


Kate Lonergan is a sophomore at the George Washington University majoring in International Development Studies and Psychology. She is interested in human rights advocacy and conflict resolution, and plans to join the Peace Corps after college. Kate recently returned from a week-long trip to Oaxaca, Mexico where she worked on a community development project.


Daria Willis is a candidate for a BA in International Studies at University of California Irvine. She is originally from San Francisco, and due to the rich international culture present in the region, has always possessed a passion for International Affairs. This past summer she studied in Seville, Spain, and in the future plans to attend graduate school for International Studies.


Emma Gring recently earned her BA in International Studies with an emphasis on the Middle East and Africa regions from the University of California, Irvine in June 2008. Her interest in global politics and issues, particularly the HIV/AIDS pandemic, has lead her to volunteer her time both with local organizations in California, as well as in Kenya and Tanzania. In the future Emma plans on teaching English in South-East Asia and then completing her studies in foreign affairs and human rights issues.


Jessica Walker is a senior at Davidson College majoring in Political Science. She spent 5 months studying in Israel, with travels to Egypt and Jordan, pursuing her interest in international relations, human rights, and health care advocacy. She plans to obtain a Masters in Public Affairs or International Relations to enable her to assist efforts for peace, development, and democracy.


Elizabeth Caniano is an Economics and Italian Studies double major at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She has recently completed an academic year abroad in Florence, Italy where she studied at the Università degli Studi di Firenze. While in Florence, she volunteered at a local non-profit organization which offered assistance to immigrants within the community, reaffirming her commitment to international economic development.
