Elizabeth Latham is the Executive Director for the U.S. Committee for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP-USA). She also serves on the Board of Directors of Interaction and the Steering Committee of the United Nations Association's Council of Organizations. Elizabeth has done project coordination at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, media work for the National Security Studies Quarterly, and community mobilization for the Washington Office on Africa. In 2003 she was the inaugural recipient of UNA-USA's Global Young Advocate Award. She is in press with "CIVPOL Certification: A Model for the Recruitment and Training of Civilian Police Monitors" (World Affairs, Summer 2001) and has written for the Winter 2004 Issue of The Interdependent magazine. Kyle Simpson is the Operations Associate for the U.S. Committee for UNDP. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in International Studies and Linguistics. He has an interest in the relationship between development and the environment. Growing up outside of Des Moines, he spent six months in Montpellier, France learning the language and becoming acquainted with French culture.
Emily Riff is the Event Coordinator for the U.S. Committee for UNDP. She
recently graduated from Smith College in Northhampton, MA with a major in Government and a minor in Thrid World Development Studies. Her senior thesis was titled: "Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood: An Islamic Alternative?" Her thesis attempted to contribute to the greater debate surrounding the relationship between Islam and politics. She hopes to attend graduate school in international development and continue studying Arabic.
Aaron Dickerson
recently graduated from Morehouse College with a major in Sociology. He plans to attend graduate school and pursue a joint degree with a MA/PHD in Public Policy and Sociology. Ultimately, he wishes to pursue a career in lobbying and advocacy, specifically dealing with global social issues.
Christine Lai
Christine Lai recently graduated from Dartmouth College with a double major in Government and Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. She spent a term studying the Chinese language and culture at Beijing Normal University and traveling around the country. She plans to pursue graduate studies in international affairs in the near future.
Claire Luke
is a philosophy major with an interest in government and international relations at the College of the Holy Cross. After receiving her BA, she plans on taking some time to travel, before attending graduate or law school. Her interests include travel, justice issues, writing, the outdoors, and running
Shumaila Panhwar is a senior at the University of California, Irvine. She is an International Studies and Religious studies major with concentration in Middle East affairs. She hopes to dedicate her life to speaking out against human rights violations, raising awareness of global issues, and fighting for justice and equality.
Rebecca Ruck
is a Junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill majoring in International Studies with a concentration in European cultures. She is interested in conflicts prevention. Eventually she hopes to specialize in International and Human Rights law and conflict resolution
Rudolph Warren Smith III recently graduated from the University of Kansas with a BA in History and a minor in Cultural Geography. A trip to China for an international baseball tournament and subsequent study-abroad in England have feuled his interest in international affairs. He plans to go to law school to focus on constitutional law.
